Quardell Young ended Bradford’s three-year drought when he was named first-team All-Southeast Conference in boys basketball on Monday.

The junior guard was joined on the first team by Tremper senior Sam Savaglio.

Young is the first Bradford player to make first-team All-SEC since Steve Djurickovic earned the honor in 2007 as the league Player of the Year.

Young, a second-team pick last year, led the Red Devils in scoring at 12.7 points a game. He posted a career-high 26 points against Franklin Feb. 19 and averaged 16 points a game in Bradford’s two sectional contests.

Savaglio was a second team choice a year ago and received honorable mention as a sophomore. The guard-forward averaged a team-best 12.9 points a game with a high game of 24 at Franklin on Jan. 8.

Bradford senior guard Zack Akina earned second-team recognition while teammates Justin Otto and Kris Sexton and Tremper’s Ruben Williams received honorable mention.

Also on the first team were Franklin’s Nick Romanowski, who was also the Player of the Year, Racine Park’s Josh Cameron, Racine Case’s Mitchell Farr and Oak Creek’s Nick Stout.
