Kings, Schumacher take league opener

Eric Schumacher struck out 10 in his Kenosha Kings’ debut as the team defeated the Milwaukee Beavers 8-2 in the Langsdorf League opener Thursday night at Simmons Field.

Schumacher, who attends Ripon College, gave up five hits, four walks and run in six innings.

“It was our first time seeing the kid,” Kings manager Tim Pulizzano said of the Franklin High School graduate. “He showed us something tonight.”

The Kings (2-0) took the lead with five runs in the second inning. Jason Acevado’s two-run double highlighted the frame.

Acevado was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Kyle Frye was 2-for-5 with a run. Jason Bunton and Chris Wolcott also pitched.

The Kings host the West Allis White Sox in a Langsdorf League doubleheader 1 p.m. Saturday at Simmons Field. John Kleinmeyer will pitch Game 1 while Chadd Ori will start the second game.

Ori was incorrectly listed as the starter for the game against Milwaukee in Thursday’s News.
