Waukesha’s Nick Seiske, 29, finished second with a time of 2:44:06.

Catherine Karam was the first female finisher. The 31-year-old Chicagoan completed the course in 3:26:16.

The second annual Wisconsin Marathon started at the lakefront near the Civil War Museum and stretched from Carthage College to the Prairie Harbor Yacht Club and through some residential neighborhoods.

Ruffalo, a veteran of the Boston Marathon, said his training for this event consisted of four months of pace and three weeks of tapering. He said he ran about 70 miles per week for four months leading up to the race.

Success in Kenosha has been plentiful for Ruffalo, a 2008 inductee into the Kenosha Public Schools Hall of Fame. He has dominated the summer Firecracker Run/Walk with five consecutive 10-K victories. Ruffalo has also triumphed in the Turkey Day Run.
