Schools shouldn’t have to worry about cold

I would like to respond to the Feb. 28 VOP letter, “Students shouldn’t stand outside in the cold.” First off, it is winter in Wisconsin. It gets cold here, it always has. Second, I don’t ever see 200 parents anywhere there. That is a far stretch from the truth. For five years, I have stood outside with my child and talked to many of the parents. Personally, I feel they are in too often, but because of the caring Unified, they have guidelines to keep them in when it is dangerously cold, wet, or snowy. It is the parent’s responsibility to dress their children properly and get them to school on time. The school has an obligation to educate them and keep them safe while in their care, that’s it.

As for the officer, thank God for him. Ticketing violating parents is keeping our children safe. They speed and drop kids off in the middle of the street! He is doing a great job.

Grow up, dad. That’s a caring fellow parent speaking up like you asked.
