Homeless shelter more important than transit

What is government thinking? We wallow in a squalid recession accumulating colossal debt and hemorrhage red ink from endowments to an elite few, but our more urgent local issue is building a multi-million dollar light rail to Madison and kicking homeless people out of their warming shelter! What are they supposed to do? Freeze while authorities deliberate over doggy park dimensions?

Public transportation is a millstone around the taxpayers’ neck. Imagine we are California and the state seizes our tax refunds. Is that in our Wisconsin budget balancing future? Why not confiscate Social Security also? That’s merely our private wages we sacrificed for our future. Burn that, too!

Look to the feds for guidance? Let’s see, they forced billions on the banks interest-free so the same banks can loan the same money back to the feds at a guaranteed profit which helped no one. Then, they dropped interest rates to kill off my meager savings while raising taxes to scoop out any change I had left.

Ah, change. But I still have hope — hope the city will build that central homeless center. Isn’t that more important than trains, dog parks, or bank bonuses? What do you think?
