And now you know the rest of the story. Obama is in a box. One of his campaign promises was to get out of Afghanistan by July 2011. He now knows that’s impossible.

So, what can he do? How about having his top general in Afghanistan make some off the record comments that end up getting printed in Rolling Stone magazine. He then calls him to Washington and replaces him with Gen. Petraeus, who headed up the “surge” in Iraq.

The press goes wild over what a brilliant move this is and now Petraeus says he is “wary of the troop withdrawal deadline.” Bingo, Obama is out of the box and the troop withdrawal can be delayed.

Oh, and by the way, CNN just reported that Obama OK’d a fourth star for McCrystal. He has agreed to waive a Pentagon rule and allow McCrystal to retire at his full four star rank even though he is short of the time needed to do this. Per CNN, although the general is short of the time needed to retire at his current pay, the White House said that Obama would make sure he keeps his rank. Like I said, and now you know the rest of the story!
