Genevieve M. Willems, 89, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Grande Prairie Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.
Born in Detroit, Mich., on July 29, 1920, she was the daughter of Aloysius A. and Pearl L. (Printz) Werwie. She moved to Kenosha as a young girl and was educated in local schools.
On Sept. 20, 1941, she married Paul H. Willems at St. George Catholic Church. He passed away on Sept. 17, 2004.
She had been a member of the Women of the Moose.
Surviving are her three children, Debra (John) Sucharda, Timothy J. and Mark A. Willems, all of Kenosha; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Willems of Kenosha; two brothers, George (Herta) and Albert (Grace) Werwie; a sister, Pearl (Delbert) Wegner, Four grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and her canine baby, Bessie.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul M. Willems; a grandson, Michael Willems; her mother and step-father, Pearl L. and Foster Chick; and her father and step-mother, Aloysius and Loretta Werwie.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at Proko Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Proko Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Young at Heart Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 1293, Palatine, IL 60078, would be appreciated by the family.
