Snow was still poised to fall in Kenosha overnight, though with a little less bite than previously expected.
A winter weather advisory, downgraded from a winter storm watch, is in effect for Kenosha County until 3 p.m. today.
This snowfall was originally expected to bring 6 to 10 inches of snow between Sunday and today, but predictions were dialed back Sunday to 6 to 8 inches.
“The low-pressure system is tracking farther south than we expected,” said Ashley Sears, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Sullivan. “The heavier amounts of snow are moving more to the south.”
Sears said snow was expected to start after midnight Sunday and continue through today.
About 2 to 3 inches were predicted overnight and the snow is expected to remain steady until sometime tonight. Snow showers are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Winds could reach up to 20 mph today, whipping up the snowy contents of the area, but winds should decrease by the evening.
